The Yulegoat is an ancient tradition in Northern Europe. This figure iconizes those wild and dark beings that masqueraders enact to bring the light in the darkest time of year. One early example of this masquerading might be the god Odin in his capacity as “Jólnir”, the Yule-bringer.
