The Nordic Ringstaff is a wheel of seasons design made by elements of traditional Nordic Calendar. It is comprised by (from the outer ring), The Runic Calendar, the Primstaff marks for traditional holidays, the lunar runes, the weekday runes and the axis mundi symbol in the centre.
The design is well known to followers of the Nordic Animism channel. But this is the updated and expanded version of the design, which is exclusively available here on the Ringstaff tapestry. The background to an expanded version of this design is that since digitalisation of Kaare Hovind's comprehensive collection of Norwegian primstaff marks was put online in 2023, more material has become available. This design by Ave Maria Nielsen is therefore a version of the ringstaf that is updated and expanded with some more of the beautiful and powerful symbolism from the Norwegian primstaff tradition.
The ringstaff tapestry is handproduced with sustainable materials in Sweden. It might take up to three - four weeks to arrive.
